Exciting New Research Shows CBD Blocks Covid’s Ability to Replicate in Animal Cells

CBD An Antiviral To Treat Covid?

We may be witnessing history - or at least, a tiny but vastly important seed of medical and biological history with new research into Covid and CBD, more precisely research revealing CBD’s therapeutic effect in animal cells infected with Covid. 

A highly talented team of scientists recently collaborated on research looking into how CBD could affect Covid. This impressive bunch from the departments of microbiology, molecular engineering, cancer biology, and chemistry from the University of Louisville and the University of Chicago ended up surprising themselves.

Because CBD has known anti-inflammatory effects the research team believed it could potentially help the immune system fight Covid in the second phase of a Covid infection. The possibility they would observe was CBD aiding the immune system in its fight against the effects Covid. The shocking discovery? 

CBD “inhibited viral replication in lung cells,” stated Marsha Rosner, PhD, senior author of the study.

Also stated in the research was that, “CBD has the potential not only to act as an antiviral agent at early stages of infection, but also to protect the host against an overactive immune system at later stages.”
