CBD is everywhere. Everywhere! And where there is a lot of hype there is surely a lot of misunderstanding and misinformation. We’re here to set the records straight with the Top 6 myths about hemp and CBD (and their truths):
CBD in and of itself is not sedating. In fact, it’s been shown to counteract the effects of THC and may even be alerting. However, very high doses of CBD may promote sleep. Likewise, formulas that contain a significant amount of myrcene (a terpene) may be sedating.
No. Per the 2018 Farm Bill, CBD and hemp are legal in all 50 states. CBD hemp is differentiated from marijuana in that CBD cannot contain more than .3% THC. Think of it like two variations of the same species, like white corn and yellow corn. They’re both corn but they’re clearly different, even the flavor and texture of the vegetable the plant produces is different. CBD cannabis is rich in cannabinoids, marijuana rich in THC.
Even though hemp extracts are comprised primarily of CBD, full spectrum products, in particular, may contain up to .3% THC. So, they are not entirely THC free and it is possible to fail a drug test, though very unlikely, while taking a CBD supplement.
Uh, no. CBD will not get you high. It is tetrahydrocannabinol, aka; THC that has the psychoactive effects and creates the “high.” Most CBD isolates contain 0% THC, and legally sold CBD products cannot contain more than .3% so you will not get “high.”
So, here’s the thing, THC is a cannabinoid too. Cannabinoids and terpenes work together to create what is known as the “Entourage Effect” and that doesn’t exclusively exclude THC. There are many strains of hemp, each with beneficial cannabinoid profiles of their own. In order for CBD products to be legal in the United States, they cannot contain more than .3% THC. Some people cannot tolerate THC, they may prefer isolates. CBD without THC is effective. CBD with THC is effective. It depends on what you’re trying to achieve as to which is best for you.
It absolutely matters where your CBD comes from. You want to purchase from a reputable and transparent company with high standards. The quality of the product, the way it’s processed, all of these things matter. You want to know where the hemp came from. How it is processed. You want to know what is in the product, the purity of it and its ingredients. If you are looking at a product and can’t find or obtains answers to these questions there’s a reason to move on. Green Remedy publishes all of the Certificates of Analysis (COA) reports that identify with absolute transparency the source and purity of our products.
It’s easy to get caught up in the hype, but doing your homework pays off. When considering a CBD product, we recommend researching everything from what you’re trying to achieve, to the different methods of consumption and varying products, all the way to the company and its quality and reputation. Best regards on your journey, and may you find the remedy that best serves you.
